About the 2018 Cirium Performance Awards in On-time Excellence
The categories of the Performance Awards are grouped into three areas: International (Mainline and Network), Major (by region for Mainline and Network), and Low-Cost Carriers.
An airline must meet specific requirements before being considered within an awards category. These conditions include the total annual scheduled passenger flights, the geographical nature of their route network and the degree to which we can acquire flight status data. Our methodology is a fair, objective, and reasonable approach that allows us to optimally account for an airline’s size, breadth of network and route characteristics.
We have steadily increased our standards year over year as the breadth of our data coverage has improved. In 2018, the flight status coverage requirement was set at 90% across all categories, meaning we had scheduled and actual gate arrival times on at least 90% of the scheduled flights.
As the leading provider and trusted arbiter of the broadest and most complete airline status data, we expect to continue to evolve the program and increase standards and criteria in the future.
